Custom reports: build a chart of Sent, Opened, Clicked, Replied or Interested by campaign or week
Pick any mix of five metrics, a chart type, a grouping and a date range; the chart previews live, saves as a card on the Reports page and refreshes itself as data comes in.
Where: Reports → Custom report + (top right) → the "Custom report" dialog; saved cards appear under "Your reports" at the top of the Reports page
How to do it
- On Reports click Custom report +.
- Type a Report name (placeholder "e.g. Weekly reply digest"). Leave it blank and it is saved as "Untitled report".
- Choose a Chart type: Bars, Lines or Table.
- Under "Metrics — pick any", toggle the chips Sent, Opened, Clicked, Replied, Interested (Sent and Replied start selected; at least one is required).
- Choose Group by: Campaign or Week.
- Set From and To (defaults: 35 days ago to today; neither can be after today).
- Watch the Preview — "Hover a bar for exact counts". It reloads whenever the grouping or dates change.
- Pick Run once, Email weekly or Email monthly, then click Create report. Cancel closes without saving.
- To remove a saved card, click the X in its top-right corner ("Delete report").
Good to know
- Series are computed from the real event times: Sent by when the email went out, Opened by when the email was first opened, Clicked by when a person first clicked it, Replied and Interested by when the reply arrived. So an email sent in one week and opened the next counts as Sent in week 1 and Opened in week 2. Opened and Clicked count emails — Opened any recorded open, Clicked only a click 5 minutes or more after sending (earlier clicks are mail-security scanners) — never on an email that bounced or was blocked.
- Group by Campaign shows your top 8 campaigns by total sends. Group by Week shows up to 30 weeks; weeks start Monday 00:00 UTC and are labelled by their Monday (e.g. "Sep 1").
- The To date is inclusive (the whole day is counted).
- Replied counts the real replies (conversations) received in the period — out-of-office, auto-replies and delivery-failure notices are left out — and Interested the ones marked Interested, Meeting request, Meeting booked or Won. They are counts of conversations, not the per-person rates of the By campaign table.
- Bounced and Unsubscribed are not offered as metrics: Bounced is in the By campaign table, and both are on the Campaigns list and each campaign's Analytics.
- Email weekly / Email monthly are saved with the report and shown as a tag on its card ("Email weekly"), but the dialog says it plainly: "Saved as a live card. Scheduled email delivery is coming soon." No report emails are sent yet. Run once means "Saved as a live card on this page."
- Report names are limited to 80 characters. Cards are listed newest first, with a line like "Sent · Replied — by week · Aug 1 – Sep 5".
- Charts: Bars draws one bar per metric per group; Lines draws one line per metric; Table lists the numbers. The legend under the chart maps colours to metrics.
Questions people ask
The preview says "No data in this range yet" — what now?
That message means there is nothing to group: with Group by Campaign, your workspace has no campaigns yet; with Group by Week, the To date is earlier than the From date. If events simply did not fall inside From–To, the chart shows the campaign or week labels with empty bars — widen the range and it fills in live.
Can a custom report show a single campaign?
No — Group by Campaign always shows your top 8 campaigns by sends. For one campaign, open its Analytics tab.
Will the weekly email arrive?
Not yet. The schedule is saved on the card for when email delivery ships; today every report is a live card on the Reports page.
