Leads need a LinkedIn profile URL (and how to find missing ones)
LinkedIn steps act on the lead's profile URL; see how many leads have one and fill gaps from the MailFleet Lead Database.
Where: LinkedIn campaign editor (Engage → LinkedIn → Create Campaign or Edit Campaign) → 01 Leads → the note under the lead list, the callout under the source, and the button "Find LinkedIn URLs For The N Missing". Lead List options show "N leads · N with a LinkedIn URL" and Email Campaign options "… · N with LinkedIn". The Multi Channel wizard does not show the count, the callout or the button.
How to do it
- In a LinkedIn campaign, pick a lead list or an email campaign; each option says how many of its leads have a LinkedIn URL (the Multi Channel wizard shows only the lead count).
- If some are missing, the note under a list reads "N leads · N have a LinkedIn URL. The rest wait at their first LinkedIn step while we look them up, and start as soon as a URL is found." Under an email campaign the callout gives "N of M leads … have a LinkedIn URL". If none has one, a warning explains the campaign would have nothing to do, and deploying is blocked.
- Press "Find LinkedIn URLs For The N Missing": MailFleet first says how many lookups that needs and how many you have left this month, then "Find N URLs" runs it with a live "checked · found" count. It keeps going if you leave the page — follow it under Settings → Enrichment.
- Alternatively re-import the leads with a LinkedIn column under Leads.
Good to know
- Matching is deliberately strict: a lead is matched by email, or by first name + last name + company domain matching exactly one person at that company. There is no name-only matching, so a wrong match cannot turn into a request to a stranger.
- Lookups count toward your plan's monthly allowance and are charged only per URL found: Trial and Basic 100, Pro 1,000, Scale 10,000 per month. If you have connected an Apollo.io API key under Settings → Integrations, leads the Lead Database cannot identify are also looked up through Apollo (each answer is checked against the lead's name and company before it is accepted) — those lookups spend credits from your Apollo account. A lead is searched at most once every 30 days.
- At send time the campaign engine tries the lookup once more for a lead with no URL; if still none, the lead waits at that LinkedIn step and is re-checked daily (activity: "Waiting for a LinkedIn profile URL — LinkedIn step retries daily") rather than skipping the step for good.
- Placeholder values such as "--" or a non-LinkedIn link do not count as a URL.
- Leads handed over from an email campaign are looked up as they open, click or reply — but never for "Finish without replying"; find those leads' URLs here or re-import them.
