Lead Database: revealing and verifying an email
Addresses are masked in search results; Reveal shows the full address, checks it live against the mail server and saves the person to your leads — one unit of your monthly Lead Database allowance the first time (free thereafter) and one place in your workspace.
Where: Lead Database → Email column → Reveal · Person panel → Reveal email
How to do it
- Find the person. Their email shows masked, e.g. j••••••@acme.com, with a pill if the address has a known verdict.
- Click Reveal (or open the person and click Reveal email). "Checking…" appears while the mail server is asked.
- The full address appears with a pill: Valid, Invalid, Catch-all or Unknown. Hover the pill for what it means and when it was checked.
- Underneath, "Saved to your leads" links to the list they were saved in ("Already in your leads" if they were one before).
- If the check fails you see Retry with the reason; nothing is charged unless the address is actually shown.
Good to know
- Reveal uses one unit of the monthly Lead Database allowance the first time for a person new to you; revealing the same person again, or adding them to a list afterwards, is free.
- A reveal saves the person to your Leads, in a list named "Revealed from Lead Database", with the same details Add to list brings (name, title, company, website, LinkedIn URL and so on). They count toward your workspace's storage like any lead, so a reveal needs one free place — unless they are already one of your leads (matched by email). When your workspace is full, Reveal refuses ("Your workspace is full — … Delete leads or upgrade under Billing to reveal more.") and nothing is charged. Deleting the lead frees the place; revealing them again later is free of the allowance and saves them again.
- Pills: Valid = the mail server accepted the address. Invalid = rejected, it would bounce. Catch-all = the domain accepts anything, so it cannot be confirmed. Unknown = no clear answer. Verified = marked verified in the source data (no live check).
- A verdict younger than 24 hours is reused instead of probing again; the live check is given up to 12 seconds, after which you still get the address with an Unknown verdict.
- Limit: 60 reveals a minute per workspace.
- An address the check finds invalid, or one on your blocklist, is shown but not saved, and says so. If saving fails for any other reason you still get the address, with "Revealed, but we couldn't save them to your leads — add them from the Saved tab." (adding them there is free).
- Accounts still on monthly lead credits (paying before 2 October 2026, until their next renewal) pay one lead credit per reveal instead, and a reveal doesn't save the person — add them to a list (free once revealed) to use them in a campaign or include them in an export.
- If this month's allowance is used up, your workspace is full or your plan has lapsed, Reveal refuses and the person is not marked as paid for.
