Create a LinkedIn campaign

Build a LinkedIn-only sequence — profile views, connection requests, messages and conditions — in the LinkedIn campaign editor, fed by a lead list or by an email campaign.

Where: Engage → LinkedIn → Create Campaign (or Edit Campaign on a campaign's page) → editor steps 01 Leads · 02 Sequence · 03 Senders · 04 Schedule · 05 Final Review

How to do it

  1. 01 Leads: enter a Campaign Name and answer "Where do leads come from?" — Email Campaign (the default for a new campaign; see Feed a LinkedIn campaign from an email campaign) or Lead List. A lead list shows "N leads · N with a LinkedIn URL"; an email campaign shows its status, leads, opens and how many have a LinkedIn URL. Set the Skip Automatically choices on the right, then press Continue.
  2. 02 Sequence: a new campaign starts with View Profile → Connect (+1 day, no note) → Message (+2 days). Add steps from "Add To The Sequence" or with the + between steps. Click a step, wait chip or condition to edit it in the panel on the right: its wait in Days, Weeks or Months, its note or message, its type, ↑ ↓ to reorder, Duplicate and Delete Step. − and + zoom the canvas.
  3. 03 Senders: tick the LinkedIn accounts that run the steps. Only an Active account can be added; any ticked account can be removed, whatever its state. "Manage Accounts →" opens LinkedIn Accounts.
  4. 04 Schedule: pick Sending Days (default Mon–Fri), Window Opens and Window Closes (default 09:00–17:00, set on a clock dial) and the Timezone (defaults to your browser's zone; every timezone with its current offset). Tick "Each lead's local time" to run the window in each lead's own timezone instead.
  5. 05 Final Review: one row per step with Edit, anything still blocking, and anything worth a look. Press Deploy Campaign (a new campaign), Save & Launch (a draft) or Save Changes (a campaign that has already launched).

Good to know

  • Save Draft in the header keeps a new campaign as a Draft — only a name is needed — and reopens it at its own address to finish. A draft sends nothing and takes nobody from a feeding email campaign; it starts once you launch it (Save & Launch here, or Launch on its page).
  • To deploy, a campaign needs a name; a lead list or an email campaign in which at least one lead has a LinkedIn profile URL; at least one LinkedIn step; text in every Message step and notes of at most 300 characters; at least one Active account; at least one sending day; and a window that doesn't open and close at the same minute. A window that closes before it opens runs overnight.
  • A sequence holds up to 24 steps. The first step runs as soon as a lead enters; every later step waits after the previous one, up to 90 days (a month counts as 30 days). A Message whose nearest earlier LinkedIn step is a Connect goes only once the invite is accepted (earlier Messages and Conditions in between don't count, so every Message in Connect → Message → Message waits for it; a View Profile in between breaks the pairing). The first Message after the Connect counts its wait from the acceptance — its label reads "Wait after they accept"; a later one counts from the previous step — "Wait after previous step — goes only once they've accepted" (see How connection requests, acceptance and message steps work). The canvas shows each step's day and roughly when the sequence finishes.
  • Skip Automatically: "Skip leads active in another campaign" (on by default), "Skip leads you have already messaged" (off by default — anyone a mailbox or a LinkedIn account in this workspace has messaged through MailFleet; messages sent outside MailFleet aren't known) and "Skip unsubscribes, bounces and blocked leads" (always on). The first two apply when a list's leads are added and are saved with the campaign, so editing it later keeps your choice. Leads handed over from an email campaign skip only unsubscribes, bounces and blocked leads.
  • "Each lead's local time" is off by default. When it is on, the window runs in each lead's own Timezone column, and leads without one use the campaign's timezone (the field is then called Fallback Timezone).
  • Daily Limits on the Schedule step add up the picked accounts' caps. Each account's caps are shared with every other campaign that uses it; change them in LinkedIn Accounts.
  • Editing: the header shows the campaign's real status (Draft, Ongoing, Paused or Finished). Saved changes apply to steps not sent yet — queued requests and messages pick up the new wording — and leads already in the sequence keep their step number if you reorder or delete steps. Saving with the same lead list adds anyone added to it since; leads you removed stay removed; picking a new list adds its leads. Leaving with unsaved changes asks first. Add ?tab=sequence (or leads, senders, schedule, review) to the edit address to open that step.
  • After a first deploy the editor shows "Campaign deployed" with View Campaign and Back To LinkedIn. The first steps run in the next sending window; a campaign fed by an email campaign waits for leads to qualify there.
  • A LinkedIn campaign holds View Profile, Connect, Message and Condition steps only — no email, call or task steps. To mix channels in one sequence, use Multi Channel.

Questions people ask

Why can't I tick one of my LinkedIn accounts?
Only Active accounts can be added. A paused account, or one that needs reconnecting, links to LinkedIn Accounts — resume or reconnect it there, then tick it. An account already on the campaign can always be removed.
Can I add email or call steps?
Not to a LinkedIn campaign. Use a Multi Channel campaign to mix email, calls and LinkedIn, or feed this LinkedIn campaign from an email campaign.
