Preview a step and send yourself a test
See each step exactly as a lead will receive it, and email a test copy to any address with the live, unsaved editor content.
Where: Sequence editor → the Preview block under the body, and the "Send test" row beneath it.
How to do it
- Open the Preview block (click "Preview" to collapse or expand it). Use the "as it will read for" dropdown to pick one of the campaign's leads.
- Read the To, Subject and rendered Email exactly as they will send; the footer notes that your mailbox signature and the unsubscribe line are added when it sends.
- In the Send test row, type an address (placeholder "you@example.com") and click Send test or press Enter.
- Check the confirmation: "Sent to you@… from <sender>, filled in as <lead> — check the inbox."
Good to know
- The test uses the editor's current content, even if it isn't saved yet.
- Variables are filled from the first lead enrolled in the campaign; with no leads, sample values are used ("there", "your company").
- The subject is prefixed "[Test]". No tracking, no unsubscribe line and no counting against any limit or credit. The mailbox signature is included unless the step's signature tick box is off.
- The test goes out from your most recently used active sender. Errors you may see: "This step has no body to send yet." and "No active mailbox to send the test from. Connect/verify a sender first."
- The preview warns "Empty for this lead: {{x}} — the step is skipped unless you add a fallback" when a variable has no value for the chosen lead.
