Launch, pause, resume and finish a campaign
Deploy from Final review or click Launch; pause and resume at any time; campaigns finish on their own when every lead is done.
Where: Campaign → Final review → Deploy campaign. Also the Launch / Pause / Resume button in the header of the sequence editor, Settings, Analytics and Emails pages (Analytics and Emails hide it once the campaign is Finished), and on the Campaigns list: Pause/Resume in a row's More actions menu, or Pause and Resume in the bar that appears when you tick several rows.
How to do it
- Open Final review. Fix any check marked with "!" — until they pass, the panel reads "Fix Leads and Mailboxes before this campaign can deploy." and the Deploy campaign button stays disabled.
- Click Deploy campaign. You'll see "The campaign is live. Sending begins within a few minutes, inside your schedule window — replies land in your queue."
- To stop sending, click Pause. To carry on, click Resume — leads pick up exactly where they were.
- On the Campaigns page, the More actions menu shows Pause or Resume for Sending/Paused campaigns. To do several at once, tick them and click Pause or Resume in the bar above the list — Pause only touches the ones that are sending, Resume only the paused ones.
Good to know
- The button says Launch the first time and Resume after the campaign has ever been started.
- Final review checks: Leads (at least one queued), Sequence (at least one step with a body), Mailboxes (at least one active sender — and, when every mailbox the campaign picked was deleted, at least one picked again), DNS (SPF and DKIM must not be missing on any sending domain — missing DMARC is a warning only, and a record whose lookup didn't answer is shown as "couldn't check" without blocking), Schedule (at least one sending day), and Tracking & protection (informational). It also estimates emails/day across your senders and how many sending days it takes to reach everyone once.
- The sending engine runs every 2 minutes, so the first emails leave within a few minutes of deploying if you're inside the sending window.
- Pausing stops future sends; an email already handed to a mailbox in the current pass still goes. Settings changes apply to future sends only.
- A campaign turns Finished automatically when no lead is still active (everyone finished, replied, bounced or unsubscribed). Adding new leads to a campaign that has finished requires resuming it.
- Launch from the editor is refused when the campaign has no leads ("Add leads on the Leads step before sending.").
- Resume from the Campaigns list runs the same checks as Launch. If a campaign can't start (no leads, no active sender, a failing DNS check, no mailbox picked since its picked ones were deleted…), the message at the bottom of the screen names it and says why; the others still resume.
- When every mailbox a campaign picked is deleted or moved to another workspace, MailFleet pauses it (a draft keeps its Draft status) and shows a red alert on its pages rather than letting it send from all your mailboxes. Launch, Resume and Deploy are refused, with the reason next to the button, until you pick at least one mailbox in Settings → Mailboxes (Edit campaign → Senders for a Multi Channel campaign).
Questions people ask
Does pausing lose the leads' progress?
No. Each lead keeps its step and due time; Resume continues from there.
