Cold email glossary

What is Subsequence?

A short follow-up sequence that starts automatically when a reply is tagged with a chosen intent — for example, sending the calendar link on a meeting request.

The main sequence ends when a prospect replies; a subsequence is what happens next, without waiting for a human. Typical uses: send a booking link on "meeting request", ask "who should I speak to?" on "wrong person", schedule a dated check-in on "not now". It should send from the mailbox the person replied to, in the same thread.
