The Domains tab: SPF, DKIM and DMARC per sending domain

The Mailboxes page's Domains tab rolls your mailboxes up by sending domain — provider, mailboxes, SPF / DKIM / DMARC, average health and today's sending — and re-checks a domain's DNS on the spot.

Where: Mailboxes → "Domains" tab (beside "Mailboxes") → "Check DNS" on a domain's row

How to do it

  1. Open Mailboxes and click the Domains tab; the number beside it is how many sending domains you have.
  2. Each row shows the domain and its provider, how many mailboxes use it, a status dot for SPF, DKIM and DMARC (Pass, Missing, or "—" when the lookup didn't answer; DMARC shows its policy, e.g. p=none), the Avg Health of its mailboxes, and Sent Today against their combined daily limit. Hover a dot for what it means.
  3. After changing records at your DNS host, click "Check DNS" on that row; the dots update and a note says what was found, what's missing and anything it couldn't check.
  4. To fix a missing record, see the SPF, DKIM and DMARC article. To find the mailboxes on an affected domain, go back to the Mailboxes tab and use More Filters → DMARC Missing, or Status → Needs Action.

Good to know

  • Domains come from your mailboxes' addresses — there's nothing to add by hand. Rows are sorted by how many mailboxes use the domain.
  • The page reads results cached for up to 6 hours (2 minutes when a lookup didn't answer, so the next load asks again); Check DNS looks the domain up fresh, and the new result is what the page shows next time too.
  • DKIM is looked for under the common selectors (google, selector1, selector2, default, k1, dkim, mail, zoho and more). A provider that signs with an unusual selector can show DKIM as Missing even though signing is set up.
  • A free-mail domain (gmail.com, outlook.com and the like) has its records run by the provider, so its dots read "Managed".
  • A missing SPF or DKIM record blocks a campaign's deploy at Final Review; DMARC is recommended. On the Mailboxes tab, a mailbox on such a domain shows "DMARC missing" or "SPF missing" / "DKIM missing" as its issue and counts toward Needs Action. A record that couldn't be checked does neither — it's never treated as missing.
